BÖWE BELL + HOWELL Unveils Low-Cost, High-Speed Sheet Feeder

Tuesday 15. September 2009 - BBH 5450 Runs at up to 50,000 Pages Per Hour

BÖWE BELL + HOWELL (BBH) today announced the immediate availability of the BBH? 5450 cut sheet feeder, one of the highest-speed sheet feeders at its price point in the industry. Capable of running up to 50,000 pages per hour, the new BBH 5450 is yet another in a series of BBH product enhancements designed to maximize efficiency, reduce cost per mailpiece and increase overall throughput.

The new system will be featured at the BBH booth #7735 at PRINT 09 at McCormick Place in Chicago from Sept. 11 through Sept. 16.

The BBH 5450 incorporates new servo technology, software optimization and paper handling features that enable 8-1/2″ x 11″ portrait speeds of up to 45,000 pages per hour and landscape speeds of up to 50,000 pages per hour.

“Providing solutions that yield the highest productivity and the lowest cost per mailpiece is critical in today’s competitive market,” said Mark Van Gorp, vice president of business development for BÖWE BELL + HOWELL. “This new addition to our modular portfolio can be used for both transactional and standard class mail applications and can reduce the overall cost of operation without compromising speed or integrity.”

The significant advancements incorporated in the BBH 5450 allow operators to run multi-page applications at higher cycle speeds on BBH’s Enduro, Combo14 and BBH 400e inserting platforms. As an example, mailers who use a cost-effective combination of the BBH 400e inserter and the BBH 5450 can produce up to 20,000 envelopes per hour for two-page document sets, running at full speed.

The enhancements integrated into the BBH 5450 will also be made available as an upgrade to existing 5410 sheet feeders. Input channel throughput improvements may be as high as 10 percent to 20 percent over current rates, depending on system configuration.

“The new BBH 5450 is clearly a solid value that delivers unsurpassed performance,” stated Jerry DeRome, executive director of BBH DemandWorks. “By significantly reducing the costs per envelope, the BBH 5450 helps mailers achieve greater profitability in any economic climate.”
