BBH Unveils New Inserting System at PRINT 09

Tuesday 15. September 2009 - Eliminates the Envelope to Extend Transpromotional Messaging, Reduce Costs and Go Green and "Lean"

BÖWE BELL + HOWELL (BBH), a leading provider of document processing and postal solutions, unveiled the BBH MAILStream Inveloper inserting system at PRINT 09, Sept. 11 through Sept. 16, McCormick Place, Chicago, booth #7735. The BBH MAILStream Inveloper provides a cost-efficient and effective new approach for processing production mail.

The BBH MAILStream Inveloper combines envelope creation and inserting into a single, more efficient process by replacing traditional envelopes with continuous roll-fed material. The document packet, which can include a statement, business reply envelope and optional inserts, is wrapped or “inveloped” at high speeds by the roll-fed material. Personalized offers or messages, enabled by advances in digital color printing, can be added to the mailpiece to create greater impact and improve the response rates. BBH has partnered with a major envelope manufacturer to provide windowed and windowless material.

“Inveloping is a radically new way of looking at how we produce the mailpiece,” said Mark Van Gorp, BBH vice president of business development. “By eliminating the envelope, we create a true mail ‘stream’ that provides greater effectiveness, throughput and efficiency. The process delivers dramatic cost-per-piece reductions, supports transpromotional messaging, improves efficiency and throughput, and offers a more green and lean approach to production mailing.”

The BBH MAILStream Inveloper is ideal for high-volume production mailers, such as utilities and financial institutions, or service bureaus. The system runs at speeds of up to 30,000 mailpieces per hour, and because the document packet is wrapped in the inveloping material, not inserted, jam rates are dramatically reduced from 25 per 10,000 to as few as 1.12 per 10,000.

The system supports a wide range of formats, from letters to flats, closed-face and windowed material. Because no envelopes are used in the process, the waste associated with them, including boxes, cartons and handling, is also reduced. Promotional envelopes do not need to be stockpiled since the messages on roll materials are digitally managed and produced as needed.

Built on a robust, reliable platform, the BBH MAILStream Inveloper provides companies with the flexibility to adapt to changes in the future while improving existing mailing operations and reducing expenses.

“The production mail process must change if we are to continue to achieve cost reductions,” added Van Gorp. “The BBH MailStream Inveloper is a new and exciting option to help mailers achieve greater effectiveness and efficiency today and in the long term.”

Product demonstrations will be held during PRINT 09 in the BBH booth #7735.
