Thursday 10. September 2009 - Presstek Aeon CTP plate positions Company to expand up-market, offers high volume printers a choice for robust plate performance

Presstek, Inc. (NASDAQ: PRST), a leading manufacturer and marketer of digital offset printing solutions, today announced the expansion of its digital plate portfolio with Presstek Aeon, a long run, high resolution non-preheat thermal CTP plate. Aeon provides owners of 830 nm thermal CTP platesetters with a durable digital plate that can be used for high volume print runs from 200,000 (unbaked) to up to one million impressions (with the optional post-bake capability). Presstek will be featuring the Aeon plate at Print 09, which is scheduled for September 11-16, 2009 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Presstek can be found in Booth 3646 at the show.

“Presstek continues to build its digital plate portfolio for open market CTP platforms with the release of the new Aeon plate,” said Kathy McHugh, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Presstek. “Aeon joins Aurora Pro, our first open platform plate and the only true chemistry-free open platform plate in the market. Aurora Pro allows us to provide thermal plates for both Presstek and third-party 830 nm platemaking systems for runs of up to 25,000. Now, for the first time, with Aeon, Presstek can address a broader market that includes runs of up to one million impressions. This new addition to the Presstek portfolio is part of our strategic growth initiative and it offers print communication providers the ability to deliver a wide range of high quality, high volume offset printing applications.”

Ideal Solution for Broad Market Applications
“Presstek Aeon is compatible with the large installed base of 830 nm thermal platesetters,” added McHugh. “By 2010, over 32,000 thermal CTP systems will be installed worldwide according to Vantage Strategic Marketing’s “Direct-to” Technologies Report. Presstek Aeon non-preheat thermal CTP plate offers a robust plate alternative for these printers and an opportunity for Presstek to expand into this large population.”
