Prime UV Wide-Web Multi-lamp UV Processors for High Speed Curing of UV Gloss Coatings on Preprint Linerboard, Multiwall Bags and Folding Cartons

Thursday 06. August 2009 - The most exciting packaging trend to hit multiwall bags in the past few years has been UV high gloss.

Now, that same trend has transferred to beverage carrying containers. Consumers are buying beer and soda with the unique high gloss of UV. Prime UV Systems, headquartered in Carol Stream, Illinois introduced UV curing technology for overprint varnish to Cl flexo web presses for multiwall bags in 1993. Now for 2009 the Prime high-speed multilamp UV processor for preprinted linerboard promises to be a big seller. The Prime UV wide web processor, designed to be installed in line with Cl flexo presses, as well as gravure and offset web presses has been installed at packaging converters throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe and Asia.

The Prime Maximum Speed UV dryer features the latest technology in computer controlled, air cooled UV lamp systems, and is contained within Prime’s unique light shielding housing custom designed for the rigorous needs of the packaging industry. Prime’s S2100 touch screen operator controls monitors UV drying conditions in real-time sequence. Complete with an energy optimizer/air filtration system that ensures clean, filtered air to the curing chamber, and prolongs life and intensity of the UV lamp system, the Prime UV Wide Web Processor, can be retrofitted to existing web presses or installed on new presses. Complete installation, pressroom training and service support is offered to the packaging converter.
