Domino Doubles Coding Throughput On High-Speed Beverage Lines

The A-Series plus Duo prints up to eight lines of code, text, automatic serial or batch numbering and real-time clocks

Monday 27. July 2009 - Dual Nozzle Ink Jet Printer Takes Centre Stage at Drinktec

At this year’s Drinktec, world-leading coding, marking and printing technologies provider Domino (Hall B5, Booth 555), will demonstrate how its product to pallet coding portfolio delivers the increased efficiency and flexibility manufacturers need to achieve their business objectives in challenging economic times. Domino’s product showcase will be spearheaded by the global introduction of the company’s enhanced A-Series plus Duo range of continuous ink jet (CIJ) printers. Further highlights include the S200+ scribing laser, a version of the acclaimed C-Series plus outer case coder capable of labelling adjacent sides of a case in a single pass and a linerless version of the M-Series print & apply labeller.

Designed specifically to meet the beverage sector’s need to apply more data at higher line speeds, the easy-to-use A-Series plus Duo prints double the number of lines at the same speed, thanks to a dual nozzle printing system using two streams of independently deflected ink, rather than a single ink jet.

The commercial version of the A-Series plus Duo, which makes its international debut at Drinktec, boasts a new and enhanced rasterisation engine that significantly improves efficiencies, by reducing the gap between the twin lines of print produced, enabling code footprints to be reduced.

Garry Havens, Managing Director at Domino comments, “Drinktec 09 is the ideal exhibition for us to demonstrate our commitment to offering the beverage industry total product to pallet coding solutions. We are particularly excited to be showing our enhanced A-Series plus Duo, which we believe will quickly become the coder of choice for high speed canning and bottling lines,” he continues.

Also part of Domino’s primary beverage coding technologies line-up is the compact and highly versatile S200+ scribing laser. Producing letter quality codes on demanding materials and production lines, the S200+ delivers the increased simplicity, productivity and flexibility required in today’s manufacturing environments. The S200+ not only affords efficient and cost effective laser coding, but also ensures a safe environment for employees, thanks to its direct interface with the Domino DPX fume extractor.

Where high speed laser coding is the order of the day, the Domino DDC3 Dot Matrix laser is an ideal choice. Ultra-reliable, easy to use and capable of coding up to 72,000 products per hour, the DD3C creates a permanent mark onto a wide range of substrates, including paper, coated and uncoated cartonboard, polycarbonate, PET and glass.

Representing Domino’s secondary coding applicators is the C6000AS plus – Adjacent Side Coding System. A revolutionary outer case coding product, the C6000AS plus is as easy to retrofit on existing drink packaging lines as it is to install on new ones. With two coding operations synchronised via a single print head, C6000AS plus users benefit from easier set-up, faster production start-up and more efficient management of consumables. Just one of many outer case secondary coding solutions offered by Domino, it is more economical and flexible than ordering pre-printed cases, and can create a huge overall drop in fiscal waste as operating costs are minimised while equipment efficiency is increased.

Once primary and secondary coding operations are completed, Domino offers the M-Series Linerless, the most efficient and environmentally friendly print and apply pallet labeller on the market. Delivering incredible waste- and cost-cutting benefits, the M-Series Linerless eliminates the backing of self-adhesive labels which often equate to 15% of their cost. The perfect pallet coding solution for companies wishing to increase the uptime and overall equipment effectiveness of their beverage production line, each roll of M-500 Linerless labels contains approximately 50-60% more labels than its competitors. The intelligent M-Series Linerless maintains efficient workflow systems, selecting the correct label size for a job according to the amount of printed text required on each.
