UPM TILHILL WINS CENTRAL NETWORKS SAFETY AWARD

Wednesday 15. July 2009 - UPM Tilhill has scooped the Central Networks Safety, Health and Environment Award 2009.

Entry to the annual competition, which was open to individuals and teams from both Central Networks and external service providers, consisted of a written submission and site visit. From the 27 team entries, six finalists were selected, each having to make a ten-minute presentation to support their entry.

The presentations took place on 5th June at the Rioch Arena in Coventry followed by deliberation by the judging panel. UPM Tilhill’s entry was based on three initiatives: an ‘Insist on Safety’ behavioural safety programme; a musculoskeletal programme to reduce incidence of back injury and European Protected Species work.

“We are absolutely delighted to receive the Central Networks Safety Team Award 2009,” said George McRobbie, Director of Health and Safety, UPM Tilhill. “We insist on safety at UPM Tilhill and it requires hard work from everyone involved to continuously improve our safety culture. Recognition of this is a tremendous boost for the whole of our team working with Central Networks.”
