LORENZ Kunststofftechnik GmbH in Wallenhorst withstands the crisis

Monday 13. July 2009 - The German producer of SMC, BMC, DMC and CIC, LORENZ Kunststofftechnik GmbH, has announced that, despite the economic crisis, business is continuing apace.

As a result, LORENZ has been able to boost its development and customer support capacity with an increase in the workforce from 5 to 13 at the end of 2008, thereby consolidating the close cooperation it enjoys with its customers. The outcome has been the development of even more trusting relationships between LORENZ as supplier and its customers throughout the world. The number of contracts has been increasing.

The other important factor is that LORENZ manufactures its products in one of the most modern and efficient factories in Europe, constantly guaranteeing customers delivery of the same quality and offering favorable prices for its LOPREG SMC and LOMIX BMC, DMC and CIC.

Another considerable advantage which this family business enjoys is the technical equipment it employs to support the development department. LORENZ has its own CAD capability which, together with 3D construction, can carry out FEM calculations. Customers and potential customers can therefore have their products and tools constructed without the need for further development partners. The company’s own toolmaking rounds off the service it provides.

Furthermore, tools and materials are tested by a BMC technical school on three injection molding machines with a clamping force of 80, 160 and 500 tons.

LORENZ is the only SMC, BMC, DMC and CIC manufacturer in the world that can offer this service package under one roof.

The picture is completed by the enterprise’s own recycling plant, which is available to all customers.

Thomas Lorenz, owner and managing director, is also optimistic about the future development of his company:
“We have proved to be reliable for our customers, irrespective of whether they purchase 3 or 3,000 tons per year. My young, highly qualified team works on each project with absolute dedication. Our customers and many potential customers have come to appreciate this fact, so much so that we are currently working on a number of development projects that we have never seen before in our 40-year history.
To have chosen a combination of chemists and engineers for the development department and experienced master mechanics and technicians for customer support, who together speak nine languages, was the right decision.
The next step will be to help our personnel advance in all other areas which are experiencing an increasing demand by providing training courses and advanced training. Training our own young specialists is vital for us.”

SMC, BMC, DMC and CIC are fibre-glass reinforced, duroplast molding materials.
