PRSA Silicon Valley and Commonwealth Club of California to Host “News 2.0: Predicting the Future of Media”

Friday 10. July 2009 - PRSA Silicon Valley and The Commonwealth Club of California have teamed to present their first jointly hosted event: "News 2.0: Predicting the Future of Media."

Featuring prominent visionaries from both traditional and new media, the luncheon event will take place on Wednesday, August 19th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Michaels at Shoreline in Mountain View.
Attendees will hear from individuals representing both sides of the media spectrum — established and new — to debate the future of the media industry. As traditional media seek to reinvent their business and distribution models to keep pace with today’s “instant communication” channels, will they succeed in maintaining relevance amongst the chaos of the new media revolution? What will emerge as the new media model?
Moderating the panel will be Sam Whitmore, founder of Sam Whitmore’s Media Survey (SWMS) and regular emcee of PRSA Silicon Valley’s annual “Media Predicts” signature event. Whitmore will lead the discussion with a high-profile line-up of speakers:
— John Raess, Bureau Chief, Northern California, The Associated Press

— Lisa Stone, Co-Founder, BlogHer

— Jon Fine, “Media Centric” Columnist, BusinessWeek

— Robert Rosenthal, Executive Director, Center for Investigative
Reporting (CIR)

— Quentin Hardy, National Editor, Forbes Magazine

— Kevin A. Yen, Director, Strategic Partnerships, YouTube
