The City of Villeurbanne increases its autonomy and communication with HP printer

Monday 06. July 2009 - HP announced today that an HP Designjet T1100 MPF Printer is helping the French city of Villeurbanne to save time and money while improving the communications process among different public offices.

The ‘Projects and Studies’ Department at Villeurbanne City Hall is in charge of all the architectural maps for the city’s public buildings and organises its studies and architectural projects.

Until 2008, the Projects and Studies’ department worked with a black and white printer to print maps that were archived without being able to save digital copies. In 2000, the city invested in the Autocad software to improve its productivity. In the meantime, more and more requests were coming from the different offices for coloured maps and therefore, the printer was becoming obsolete and needed to be replaced.

“We organised a business competition among different companies to choose the best printer, based on investment and services costs as well as quality and productivity’s criteria,” explained Christine Capuano, director of the projects and studies department. “The HP printer provided the best level of quality, from line drawings to maps, in both scanner or printer modes.”

The HP Designjet T1100 Printer has produced great results and even created a small revolution in the Projects and Studies Department. Print quality has improved; people now receive their printed colour maps with a PDF file, and use of the printer has increased.

“Once we start enjoying the benefits of a coloured map and the flexibility of a scan, it is difficult to think how we managed without it,” concluded Capuano.
