Aschendorff Media goes live with Méthode

Wednesday 03. June 2009 - The German regional publisher has begun production of the print and online editions of the daily Westfälische Nachrichten using EidosMedia’s innovative multiple-media publishing platform.

Münster-based publishing company Aschendorff Media is now in full production with the print and online editions of its flagship publication Westfälische Nachrichten using EidosMedia’s multiple-media platform Méthode. Production was launched on the new platform in December 2008, after a roll-out period of only three months, made possible by close collaboration between Aschendorff and EidosMedia’s highly motivated technical teams. The new platform now serves 130 editorial staff distributed between the central newsroom and Aschendorff’s regional offices.
Aschendorff has chosen a channel-neutral platform that allows a common editorial workflow to serve different publishing channels. Editorial staff can prepare any kind of content (articles, picture galleries, videos etc.) in a single workspace. Méthode then tailors the content for different destination channels. Of particular interest is the geo-tagging feature that allows editorial content to be labelled with geographical location data. Online content delivery has been implemented through close integration with a third-party product and Aschendorff’s original objective of creating a close integration between online and print operations has been achieved.
Holger Hofmann, general manager of EidosMedia GmbH, said: “The success of the Aschendorff project is a demonstration that the Méthode platform is able to deliver, on time and within budget, precisely the multiple-media capabilities that publishing organisations in Germany and elsewhere need.”
