Favini focuses on FSC for cast coated

Monday 01. June 2009 - Favini announces that with immediate effect both of its famous cast coated brands, ASTRALUX and BINDAKOTE are now FSC certified.

Despite the difficult economic situation, demand for environmentally sound papers remains strong throughout the specification chain. Not only are these brands now FSC, 20% of the electricity used at the manufacturing mill is made from hydro electric power generated on site.

Both ASTRALUX and BINDAKOTE offer complete ranges from 80gsm to heavy folding boards. They are highly regarded as label papers in wet strength and standard, ideal for labelling, whereas the board weights give great ink drying performance in demanding packaging applications.

Andrea Nappa, Favini CEO remarks, “The FSC certification is a really crucial point – without a valid accreditation, there must be questions raised about the forestry practices of other offers. Favini has always been proud of its leadership role in environmental improvements, be it Alga Carta, radical reductions of water consumption, ISO 14001 or being the first Italian mill to be certified FSC. We believe that the FSC standard is relevant to all converters and brand owners who use ASTRALUX or BINDAKOTE because of the value it gives to their ultimate sales proposition”.

Both Favini mills are FSC certified and comply with ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 regulations. The Rossano Veneto mill complies also with OHSAS 18001.
