JM’s product chain is geared towards sustainability

Monday 18. May 2009 - Sustainability is of particular importance. Climate change, scarceness of resources and continuously increasing energy costs are indicators that this topic will be of increasing importance in future. Every single one of us must therefore take personal responsibility in using our resources with consideration.

That is the reason why JM decided to gear the entire production chain towards sustainability.
For example: Heat exchangers are used for energy optimisation, which allow the manufacturer to preheat the tenter frames to the required temperature with the aid of flue fumes. The machinery is equipped with exhaust air scrubbers to filter out hazardous matter. Monthly energy consumption is measured and documented in order to optimise it. Only well water is used for the production (not treated drinking water quality) so that here are no natural resources used up. The entire production is carried out without the use of ozone layer harming CFCs. JM continuously take voluntary samples of their wastewater and always aims to find suppliers that are located in close proximity of their plant so as to minimise unnecessarily long transport journeys.

JM has had the entire product range certified in accordance to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 IV and is currently one of the few manufacturers who has achieved this. The German company can therefore guarantee that the entire production, raw materials procured and used and hence the entire production chain is environmentally harmless.

The customers can also tag fabrics purchased from JM with the Oeko-Tex label, which in turn will offer decision-making support to the end consumer.

The Oeko-Tex label plays a major role, being the globally most important label for textiles that have been tested for harmful substances. All testing institutions work to a global standard and successfully tested textiles are permitted to carry the logo. The label reassures the customer that the purchased fabric is ecologically sound.
