coldblack brings significant cooler temperatures

Monday 18. May 2009 - Latest technology and good news for dark colored seat covers:

coldblack provides a double sun protection as it actively influences heat management and provides a high UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor). The new textile technology was launched by Schoeller Technologies and Clariant in summer 2008 for the garment sector. Since then applications for automotive and outdoor seat covers have been developed and the laboratory tests are extremely promising. During Techtextil coldblack and its new and different application ideas, including seat covers, are displayed and demonstrated. Dark colors, when treated with coldblack, look dark but react like light colors. Therefore, they remain cooler when exposed to direct sunlight.

Better working conditions in the sun:
coldblack – a great performance for protective wear

Laboratory tests on a sweating torso have proven that a black coldblack polo
shirt displayed a temperature increase of the torso which is approx. 5 °C (9 °F)
lower than that of the non-treated black shirt when exposed to simulated sunlight (infrared lamp). Tests with simulated sweating activity have confirmed that the wearer of a coldblack shirt only perspires about half as much as the wearer of a conventional black shirt in order to compensate for the increase in skin temperature. In addition to the sports and sportswear market, coldblack is ideal for the workwear sector.

coldblack was developed in Switzerland in accordance to the criteria of the bluesign standard, the world’s most stringent production standard for Environment, Health and Safety specifications (EHS).
coldblack is being used by exclusive garments partners like BMW Motorrad, Bogner, Fechheimer, Hein Gericke, Held, HUGO BOSS and Mammut as well as by companies like Gaenslen & Völter. New applications can include areas such as awnings, sun shade sails or tents.
