Zoran Corporation Launches Next-Generation IPS Print Language Software for Digital Printing Market

Tuesday 07. April 2009 - Delivers DSP Acceleration on Quatro Processors

Zoran Corporation (NASDAQ: ZRAN) today announced availability of IPS System 2009.1, the newest version of its IPS page description language (PDL) interpreter solution for printers and multifunction peripherals (MFPs), featuring acceleration on Zoran’s Quatro processors and incorporating numerous other enhancements, including improved printing of multiple pages per sheet, support for the latest version of PDF and improved performance.
Many manufacturers of monochrome and color print devices are demanding that hardware and software component solutions be more tightly integrated to ensure enhanced performance, easy integration and fast time to market. Zoran’s Quatro 4230, 4305 and 4310 processors combine embedded ARM CPU cores with SIMD DSP cores to provide original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers (ODMs) a compelling combination of integration and performance.
Zoran’s latest IPS System 2009.1 software release takes advantage of the power of the Quatro digital signal processors (DSPs) to accelerate key processing tasks. Third-party test suites demonstrate that a 30 to 40 percent performance boost can be obtained on multiple image files including PowerPoint files with complex background designs.
“Zoran is the only provider integrating its hardware and software to provide customers with the complete, high quality, fully optimized solutions required to deliver compelling products in this marketplace,” said Tom Mager, vice president of software engineering, Zoran’s Imaging Division. “IPS System 2009.1 is an example of Zoran’s ongoing investment in portable PDL interpreter software to stay up-to-date with evolving standards.”
