Longo SPA increases digital printing capabilities with HP Indigo press 5500

Vanni Barion, CEO, Longo SPA

Friday 27. March 2009 - HP today announced that Longo SPA (part of Longo Group) has installed an HP Indigo press 5500 to increase its existing digital print capabiltiies.

Founded in 1957 as Fotolito Longo, Longo SPA originally used offset printing technology to produce high-quality printed products for publishers and creatives in the graphic arts industry. The company has now expanded its product portfolio to include commercial print and offers prepress, offset printing, digital printing, and finishing services, catering for its established customer base as well as customers in other market sectors.

“Being a forward-thinking company, we endeavour to keep up to date with the latest technology innovations,” said Vanni Barion, CEO, Longo SPA. “We purchased our first digital press in 2003, an HP Indigo press 3050. The investment enabled us to differentiate our products with the personlaisation capabilities and offset-like print quality provided by the HP technology. In addtion, the HP Indigo press enabled flexible, user-friendly and cost-effective production, especially for short-run print, and therefore opened new business opportunities. As a result of the positive experience we had with this first investment, we decided to purchase the HP Indigo press 5500 in September 2008.”

As well as utilising its HP technology to produce high-quality, commercial, and personalised products, such as cataolgues, brochures, and limited edition publications, Longo SPA’s HP presses are employed to create printing proofs and samples. As the print-quality and image resolution obtained by the HP equipment parallels that of the offset technology, these one-off prints can be produced to accurately illustrate the different options available to Longo SPA customers. This unique, added-value service enables customers to make an informed choice when considering their budget and print requirements.

“We sincerely value our relationship with HP as a technology partner. Both HP Indigo presses installed at Longo Spa consistently provide fantastic results in terms of print-quality and flexible, user-friendly production processes. In conjunction with this, HP has been committed to providing readily-available, reliable support to ensure our satisfaction,” says Barion.

Longo SPA, based in Bolzano, Italy (in the Trentino Alto Adige region), is one of four printing companies within Longo Group. The Group’s mainly operates in the German and Italian national markets, and distributes to other countries within Europe.
