Printacom and Printronix Partner to Distribute Thermal Printers to South Africa

Tuesday 10. March 2009 - Printacom Adds Industrial Printing Division to Serve Region

Printacom, a member of the MB Technologies group of companies, and Printronix, a leading integrated supply-chain printing solutions manufacturer, have established a partnership to sell industrial printers in South Africa and the surrounding areas. Printronix is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for OKI line matrix printers and now will supply thermal and RFID printers to Printacom under the Printronix brand name. With the addition of this new product line to its distribution offering, Printacom has launched an industrial printing division.
“The thermal bar code printing market is expanding in South Africa,” said Holger Steer, area sales manager for Central Europe and South Africa, Printronix. “By partnering with Printacom we are better positioned to grow our business alongside industries in South Africa including logistics, manufacturing, food and others. Printacom’s strong reseller base and the OKI MX line matrix printer series are perfectly matched with our range of thermal printers, for coverage of a wide range of applications.”
Printacom now will sell the Printronix thermal product line including the T4M and T5000r thermal bar code printers and the SL4M and SL5000r radio frequency identification (RFID) printers. In addition, Printacom will sell Printronix’s online data validation products (ODV).
“The region is quickly moving toward an integrated logistics supply chain environment,” said Neil Rom, managing director, Printacom. “Partnering with Printronix is allowing us to expand our business by adding our new industrial printing division. Additionally, we will be able to better serve the needs of our customers with the total solution Printronix provides.”
Printacom’s new industrial printing division will be led by Libby Balardin. He will be focused on building the industrial printing division.
