Special Segment on the Impact of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act for Printers Added to Upcoming Webinar:

Monday 26. January 2009 - What an Obama Administration & 111th Congress Means for Printers  Tuesday, January 27 - 2:00 pm EST

WHAT:   In addition to a discussion on labor, tax, and postal changes that may arise as the result of the new administration, Printing Industries of America is adding a special segment on the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) to its January 27 webinar: What an Obama Administration & 111th Congress Means for Printers.
Attendees will learn more about the legislation, the potential costs to printers, and what Printing Industries has done to date.  Printing Industries has been active in communicating with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and Capitol Hill Legislators in an effort to advocate for the industry including providing proof as to why ordinary books do not pose lead safety issues and should therefore be exempt from the legislation.  The cost of compliance of this legislation for printers is estimated to be potentially astronomical.

 Additionally webinar attendees will learn:

New policy directions that will likely be pursued by the Obama Administration and 111th Congress
The impact of the new policy directions on the “top action issues” identified by printers in this year’s Government Affairs survey of Printing Industries of America members
Background information on the new “key players” in the new Administration and Congress
Grassroots actions that printers can undertake to influence policies and promote the success of the industry

WHO:  This webinar will be hosted by Lisbeth Lyons, Printing Industries’ vice president of government affairs, and will include a panel of legislative and advocacy experts.

Lyons directs all aspects of the Government Affairs operations in the Washington, D.C. office of Printing Industries of America – the only association that maintains a full-time lobbying and federal regulatory compliance staff to represent commercial printers. Printing Industries of America activities include direct lobbying before Congress and the Administration on key industry issues ranging from postal reform, health care, taxes and regulatory reform, as well as PrintPAC and grassroots advocacy initiatives. Lyons also serves as Printing Industries of America’s lead representative on coalitions working to support a pro-print, pro-business legislative agenda.

WHEN:  Tuesday, January 27, 2009
             2 pm – 3:30 pm EST
HOW:   The cost to attend the webinar is $99 for Printing Industries members and $199 for non-members.
