All RSDB web and sheet offset printing plants now ISO-12647 certified

Friday 02. January 2009 - All RSDB web and sheet offset printing plants in the Netherlands have now gained ISO-12647-2 certification in both prepress and printing departments. With five certificates for prepress, three for sheet-fed offset and three for web offset, RSDB can justifiably claim it offers ‘Certified Offset' to its clients.

We at RSDB attach great value to working according to established international standards. It increases quality and allows our plants to better substitute for one another. More importantly, it reassures print purchasers who have their printing done in different plants that their work will be produced within acceptable quality limits – a vital consideration for major publishers and international print buyers. International advertising and publicity campaigns must be of constant quality, wherever they are produced.

A joint project group of specialists drawn from the various RSDB plants has been working for some time to optimise our internal processes, each learning from the others’ experience. The fact that we have devoted a great deal of time and energy to this ‘printing by the numbers’ project fits in with our ambition to create extra added value for our clients by offering them a complete range of services for the processes by which they communicate with their target groups.

The first plant in the RSDB Group to attain ISO-12647-2 certification – in the fall of 2007 – was Senefelder Misset in Doetinchem. This made them the first web offset printer in the Netherlands to gain this seal of quality. Senefelder Misset passed the test with flying colours, both in prepress and the print shop. It was rapidly followed by ISO certificates for prepress and the sheetfed plants of Roto Smeets GrafiServices Utrecht and the Senefelder Misset shee-fed plant.

This year Roto Smeets Utrecht (prepress and web ofset) and Roto Smeets GrafiServices Eindhoven (prepress and sheetfed) also gained the coveted certificates.

Finally, Roto Smeets Weert has now gained certification for prepress and web offset.
Interestingly, this plant was the first to gain certification on a broad web press, a MAN Rotoman-S with a maximum paper width of 146 cm.
