More awards for the Scheufelen Wall Calendar

Wednesday 24. December 2008 - Scheufelen’s 2008 wall calendar "the 4th dimension" received the "red dot design award" and has been included in the Design Annual 2008 of the American Arts Magazine. In total the calendar now gained four prestigious awards.

Every year the red dot award is granted by the German Design Zentrum North-Rhine Westfalia for Product Design, Communication Design, and Design Concept. The red dot is considered to be a renowned award for extraordinary design and is one of the leading Design competitions worldwide. In 2008 about 5.900 entries from 39 countries were registered. In total 343 entries received an award, and the Scheufelen 2008 wall calendar was among them. In 2007 Scheufelen received the red dot award for their “Corporate Box”.

The Design competition of the “Communication Arts Magazine” of California is known to be the biggest design competition with one of the most rigorous panels. Out of a total of 20.000 entries the jury selects 200 contributions which are then published in the Design Annual of the magazine. This year the Scheufelen wall calendar is part of the best design projects worldwide. Together with the “Award of Typographic Excellence” of the Type Directors Club New York and the Gold Medal of the 58th Stuttgart Calendar Show the Scheufelen wall calendar has won four important awards.

The wall calendar 2008 was developed in co-operation with the Stuttgart-based design agency strichpunkt and is dedicated to the fourth dimension – time. Star signs throughout the changing seasons, celestial phenomena and astrology are set in the context of time.

Produced by using top-quality printing processes with up to twelve different printing inks, and finished by applying hot foil or glow-in-the- dark ink to premium coated papers, the calendar is a truly remarkable work of art. With it, Scheufelen has been able to replicate the success of last year’s calendar.
