Chesapeake Captures Prestigious Packaging Awards

Thursday 13. November 2008 - Chesapeake Corporation (OTCBB: CSKE:PK) recently won two prestigious awards at the UK Packaging Awards sponsored by Packaging News magazine in the United Kingdom.

Chesapeake captured top honors in the labelling category with its award-winning label for Russian Standard Vodka, the leading premium Vodka brand in Russia. The detailed labels are printed in eight colors using high color control standards along with a roller-coat varnish and are enhanced with gold foil to produce a deep, reflective sheen. Embossing adds the final touch and further improves shelf appeal. Chesapeake produces the technically challenging labels at its plant in Hillington, Scotland.

Chesapeake also earned runner-up recognition in the cartonboard packaging category for its Glen Moray Classic Gift Set. This package features a unique twist on the company’s “soft box” concept by combining low caliper cartonboard around corrugated inner walls. It also uses high-quality substrates with a textured grain effect and is foil stamped and embossed. An innovative side opening allows the bottle to show through a curved window without requiring cellophane. The award-winning gift sets are produced at Chesapeake’s operation in Bradford, England.

Chesapeake Corporation protects and promotes the world’s great brands as a leading international supplier of value-added specialty paperboard and plastic packaging. Headquartered in Richmond, Va., the company is one of Europe’s premier suppliers of folding cartons, leaflets and labels, as well as plastic packaging for niche markets.
