B. Braun Technology Wins Novation Specialty Infusion Pumps Contract Award

Thursday 06. November 2008 - B. Braun Expands Contract Agreements to Include Specialty Pumps

B. Braun Medical Inc. (B. Braun) announced today it has signed a three-year agreement with Novation, the healthcare industry’s leading contracting services company, to provide specialty infusion pumps to Novation’s customers nationwide.

Novation develops and manages contracts with more than 500 suppliers to the nearly 2,500 members of VHA Inc. and the University HealthSystem Consortium, two national healthcare alliances and nearly 12,000 members of Provista, LLC.

The agreement, which took effect Monday, is a multi-source award for ambulatory and syringe pumps.

“The Novation contract validates B. Braun’s industry-leading technology,” said Gale White, Vice President, Infusion Systems for B. Braun Medical Inc. “By adding this agreement, we’re able to offer Novation customers advanced technology pumps that are easy to use, reduce medication errors and increase the safety of infusion therapy.”

Ambulatory pumps covered under the agreement include the entire Curlin PainSmart(R) IOD Pain Management System, which B. Braun markets exclusively. The Curlin System is an advanced ambulatory electronic infusion system that offers a revolutionary safe, reliable and smart pain management technology for advanced pain therapy. Equipped with Information On Demand (IOD) technology for PCA, PCEA and epidural therapies, it is easy-to-use and flexible. A single pump can accommodate syringes, bags or bottles.

Novation customers now also have access to B. Braun syringe pumps. Designed with both adult and pediatric facilities in mind, the small, lightweight B. Braun SPACE System allows for flexibility and easy transport within a number of care settings.

At 9 inches by 6 inches and weighing only three pounds, the SPACE pumps can fit easily into a range of environments. The system is designed for higher acuity care facilities, offering a large drug library as well as the capability to build up to 24 pumps in a single bedside tower. Clinicians benefit from the compact size of the Perfusor(R) SPACE syringe pump in crowded operating room environments, where three pumps easily interlock on a pole clamp.
