CROWN TO SPOTLIGHT NEW DECORATIVE TECHNIQUES AND SUSTAINABILITY AT BRAU 2008

Tuesday 04. November 2008 - CROWN Bevcan Europe & Middle East, a business unit of Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) (Crown), will present its range of innovative beverage packaging at BRAU, November 12-14, 2008 in Nuremberg, Germany.

The company will highlight its two-piece slim and traditional steel and aluminum beverage cans, its SuperEnd beverage ends, and its high quality print technique.

Crown has introduced new print techniques which enable top quality printing to be done directly onto a metal surface. High quality print is an exciting technique particularly suitable for reproducing and enhancing detailed images such as faces, fruit and fine text on beverage cans. It considerably extends the traditional studio print reproduction process, creating superior printing of bright, fine graphics and is ideal for product promotions and eye-catching packaging. High quality print has been a substantial break-through offering a world of infinite branding opportunities to the beverage industry and to packaging industry clients.

Another focus will be Crown’s expanded range of novel ink finishes which add excitement to packaging, engage consumers at point of purchase and expand the branding possibilities on beverage products. The new finishes, which include Color Change, Tactile, Soft Touch, Matt, Thermochromic, Pearlescent, UV Light and Glow in the Dark, can add flair to beverage cans. They create impact on the store shelves because of their unique look and feel and provide a great promotional tool perfect for all occasions.

The company will also showcase its SuperEnd beverage ends which use 10% less metal than standard ends, leading to source reduction, substantial environmental gains, significant energy savings and an improved drinking experience for consumers.

The SuperEnd beverage end, introduced in 2001 specifically for the beverage market, is becoming an industry standard. To date, Crown and its licensees have produced more than 150 billion SuperEnd beverage ends worldwide, saving more than 37,000 metric tons of aluminum, over 600 metric tons of coatings, and more than 300,000 metric tons of greenhouse gases, which is the equivalent of the annual emissions from 55,000 automobiles.

SuperEnd beverage ends also feature a distinctive message or “billboard” area for marketers to print brand logos, special messages and co-branding promotions, instant win campaigns or to communicate with consumers about issues such as recycling.

Crown is a leading beverage metal packaging manufacturer in Europe and the Middle East. The company manufactures two-piece beverage cans in a range of sizes from 15 to 50 cl.  It operates 13 beverage can-making plants in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
