BOBST LEMANIC DELTA honoured by GAA, Gravure Association of America
Tuesday 04. November 2008 - The Gravure Association of America presented its 2008 GAA Golden Cylinder Award to Bobst Group for its versatile LEMANIC DELTA gravure press system. The Bobst Group of companies (LEMANIC lines for cardboard and ROTOMEC presses for flexible materials) has been honoured more than 10 times for its innovations in press technology.
Golden Cylinder Awards, which have been an integral part of GAA since the association was founded, recognize excellence in gravure printing in the packaging, product (decorative), and publication printing market segments. The Awards also recognize new technical innovations, from advances in image preparation and cylinder manufacturing to high-tech press and post-press equipment.
GAA promotes and encourages the use of gravure, providing a forum for experts from all areas of the gravure industry to meet to exchange ideas and information on gravure technology and markets. The association maintains technical committees, holds industry-wide conventions, provides direct technical assistance to members, supports the Gravure Education Foundation, and publishes GRAVURE Magazine six times per year. GAA was created in 1987 by the merger of the Gravure Technical Association (GTA) and the Gravure Research Institute (GRI), both of which were established in 1947.
During GAAs Pressroom Technology Conference held in Cincinnati, Ohio, April 22-24, 2008, the LEMANIC DELTA was presented in the “Press Innovations” category of GAAs Golden Cylinder Awards program. BOBST developed the LEMANIC DELTA system to provide the gravure printing industry with a production line for cardboard that addresses market requirements in terms of performance and profitability. This compact, cost-effective and highly productive machine is suited to medium- and long-run production of high-quality cardboard packaging.
The LEMANIC DELTA system finally gives a viable alternative to actual Sheet-Fed Offset production: differentiation thanks to gravure.
