Prim Hall Enterprises is introducing their latest innovation in Hopper Loader technology, the 875HL Pile Loader.

Friday 31. October 2008 - The 875HL Pile Loader was developed to improve the performance of Flat Cover Folder Feeders on Harris/Goss as well as Muller Martini Saddle Stitchers. The Loader is also adaptable to interface to Drum style Cover Feeders on Perfect Binding lines.

Performance improvements are gained through the Loaders ability to consistently maintain the pile height in the Feeder.

At the infeed end of the Pile Loader is a pile transfer unit, which indexes the piles onto a staging area. An indexing Gripper Mechanism clamps the leading edge of the pile and transfers the pile into the Feeder. A pile height sensor monitors the height of the covers in the Feeder; when the Feeder pile height lowers to a predetermined height, the Gripper Mechanism transfers the next pile into the Feeder. A “wing” mechanism is provided to help support the incoming pile of covers as they are transferred into the Feeder. The wings retract slowly and gradually release the weight of the incoming pile onto the pile below. The Loaders ability to deliver consistent piles into the Feeder drastically reduces the probability of doubles or mis-feeds. A Pneumatic Pusher is also included which jogs the pile forward to the Feeder gauge line after it has been lowered into the Feed Tray.

In addition to mechanical performance improvements, manning costs may also be reduced. Not only in terms of head count reductions, but also in the reduction of repetitive stress related injuries.
