Wednesday 22. October 2008 - Pearson Print is in the process of moving to new 10,000 sq ft freehold premises, five times the size of its existing building. It is to this new site that a Drupa specification Speedmaster SM 74-5 will be delivered in December, marking the company’s debut in B2 production. The order was signed at Heidelberg’s national open house in Tamworth last week.

The general commercial company employs ten staff and they will make the two mile transfer to the new site in Hyde, Cheshire. There the company will offer its regional customer base, primarily blue chip companies and ad agencies within a 50 mile radius, a B2 and B3 print service.

It chose the SM 74 only after an extensive review of options. It likes the quality and flexibility of the press and with a five-colour it has the option of printing specials or sealing work for fast turnround. Specific technical features it likes on the latest generation press are the inking unit and latest generation feeder technology.

“We are making this move into B2 because of demand from our clients,” says managing director Simon Pearson. “We will introduce the press on a day shift basis but I will be surprised if we don’t have to move to double day shifts within months of installation. The reaction has been very positive. Customers are glad to hear the news and staff like to see the company’s investment in the latest state of the art kit.”

This year Pearson Print has invested over £700,000 in new printing equipment, positioning it for growth and keeping it competitive.
