Finlay Sharpens its Bindery Automation with Heidelberg’s POLAR 137 XT

Thursday 02. October 2008 - As its tagline suggests, Finlay offers its clients "innovative ideas" on how to use both offset and digital printing methods to grow their business. Recently, the specialty marketing solutions company in Bloomfield, Conn. decided to execute some innovation of its own and install a new POLAR 137 XT cutter with automation to help improve its bindery process.

“As we grow, we are seeking automation in each area of the company,” CEO Kevin Kalagher said. “Installing the new POLAR cutter with automation has expanded our cutting capabilities in the most cost-effective way possible, so we are always positioned for more growth.” The new cutter, which replaced an older model POLAR 137, automatically removes waste paper and aligns skids during the cutting process. “POLAR is truly the leader in paper cutting equipment, and after looking at competitive equipment, I think we have made the best investment in both technology and value with POLAR,” Kalagher said. “As a specialty provider, we look for equipment that will help us maintain a certain edge in the industry, especially during these uncertain economic times.” With 95 employees and counting, Finlay has now been in operation for 132 years – and expects continued growth and success.
