Boise(R) BEWARE(R) Meets October 1, 2008 Federal Medicaid Guidelines Requiring Tamper-Resistant Prescription Paper

Boise Inc. announced today that Boise BEWARE, the brand’s anti-copy/anti-scan paper, complies with federal guidelines for paper-based security in Medicaid papers by offering three tamper-resistant features. According to the federal mandate for tamper-resistant prescription pads, papers must meet three criteria by October 1, 2008. Boise BEWARE meets all three characteristics required.

The enhanced Boise BEWARE newest feature is a coin-reactive, artificial watermark on the back of the sheet. When a coin is rubbed over the back of the sheet, the words BOISE BEWARE will appear. This feature is not reproducible on a copier, fax, scanner or laser printer.

Boise BEWARE’s new tamper resistant feature enhances the product, which already included:

— An industry-recognized feature designed to prevent unauthorized copying of a completed or blank prescription form. BEWARE has this feature: VOID, COPY or UNAUTHORIZED COPY appears when duplication is attempted.

— An industry-recognized feature designed to prevent the erasure or modification of information written on the prescription by the prescriber. BEWARE has this feature: When erasure occurs, it is evident on the paper as ink is removed in the spot where alteration is attempted.

In addition to medical prescriptions, Boise BEWARE is also commonly used for legal documents, coupons, business contracts, copyrighted materials and visitor badges. The product features color tinted, acid-free sheets, and comes in 8.5″x11″ and 25″x38″ sizes. The product is also available in custom colors and varying weights of paper, as well as custom hidden words.
