Solo Printing Making Its Mark with Technology

Quality. It’s what customers demand. Manny Hernandez, president of Miami, Fla.-based Solo Printing, knows that and has promised that’s exactly what his company will deliver. And he keeps that promise by adhering to the industry’s strictest standards and by keeping his plant’s processes and color in control. To do that, Solo Printing turned to Fujifilm and Taskero Universe.

A $20 million commercial printer, Solo Printing recently completed a 50,000 sq. ft expansion, including a new press, and implemented GRACoL 7 standards throughout the operation.

“We want to make sure we offer our customers the very best quality,” says Hernandez. “If there’s any movement in our quality we want to know it and be able to correct it. That’s the promise we make and that we need to keep.”

Hernandez recently turned to Fujifilm’s Taskero Universe to maintain control. Taskero Universe is a suite of performance analysis tools designed to give publishers an unparalleled level of quality control, from the prepress stage all the way through to the pressroom and across a number of output devices and locations.

Solo Printing uses Taskero Universe to monitor the company’s FinalProof GxT contract digital proofer, two Fujifilm Saber violet platesetters and its state-of-the-art presses, including a Komori 38S, Heidelberg and Akiyama. Taskero Universe helps monitor and maintain Solo Printing’s equipment to ensure sharp dots, tight registration and consistent ink density – and to make sure the company puts out only the highest quality products.

Since implementing Taskero Universe, Hernandez says that makereadies have been much quicker, press checks take less time and the company has far less waste. “If you can cut down on time and materials, you’ll realize the benefits in your bottom line and you can’t argue with that,” he adds.

“Leaders in this industry are leaders in technology,” says Hernandez. “The printers who are up-to-date and who are using the newest technologies are the ones that are surviving and who are leading. We want to be a leader.”
