FUJIFILM Dimatix Experiences Strong Demand for Skywalker Printhead in China and Other World Markets Demand for Skywalker printhead seen growing for use in leading value-priced high-performance wide-format printers. Of ten domestic manufacturers exhibiting 28 Spectra based printers at Shanghai International Print Expo, 15 models use Skywalker printheads

Wednesday 24. September 2008 - Company extends Skywalker success to other world markets by supplying printheads for the first high-performance wide-format printers made in Brazil.

As the world’s leading supplier of drop-on-demand inkjet printheads for industrial applications, FUJIFILM Dimatix years ago established its presence in the wide-format printing market in China through its many OEM partners. Now, buoyed by a market hungry for performance and a mounting preference for its Spectra brand printheads, FUJIFILM Dimatix is experiencing a surge in demand for its Skywalker product and a presence that is dominating trade show floor space as much as OEM’s design plans.

A prime example was found at APPPEXPO 2008, the 16th annual Shanghai International Ad, Print, Pack & Paper Expo held in early July at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Prominent within the show’s 150,000 sq-meter exhibit area, a total of ten domestic manufacturers exhibited 28 wide-format based printers outfitted with FUJIFILM Dimatix Spectra brand printheads – of which 15 models featured the high-performance Skywalker JA 128/50.

“Wide format in China has been a steadily growing market for FUJIFILM Dimatix since our Spectra Nova and Galaxy printheads first debuted there. However, our growth has really accelerated following the introduction of our Skywalker JA 128/50” said Marc Torrey, Vice President, Marketing for FUJIFILM Dimatix.

“The Skywalker JA 128/50 printhead is positioned at the ‘sweet spot’ of the Chinese market. It is uniquely able to take advantage of the market’s growing appetite for high-performance, high-throughput printhead products while still delivering on a cost/value proposition that has broad appeal in markets like China and the export markets it serves. The Skywalker JA 128 is fast becoming a major contributor to our company’s growing presence in China, and in many other countries,” Torrey explained.

Leading Chinese printer manufacturers that have incorporated Skywalker printheads in their designs include ShenZhen Runtianzhi Image Technology Co. Ltd, Wit-Color Digital Science & Technology Co., and Honghua Digital Technology Stock Co. Ltd, among many others.

Meanwhile, half a world away, the first high-performance wide-format printers made in Brazil and which incorporate FUJIFILM Dimatix Skywalker printheads in their design were also unveiled in early July at Serigrafia & Sign 2008 in San Paolo. The new AMPLA TARGA SW series printers use four or eight FUJIFILM Dimatix Skywalker JA 128/50 inkjet printheads to image up to 66m2/hour (710 ft2/hour) at print resolutions of 300 and 600 dpi.

The FUJIFILM Dimatix Skywalker JA 128/50 printhead is specifically designed as a value-priced, high-performance solution for printing display graphics using solvent-based inks. The Skywalker JA 128/50 supports resolutions up to 600 dpi and features 128 individually accessible channels, each driven by a dedicated piezoelectric crystal to provide high jetting performance and excellent channel-to-channel uniformity. The nozzles are arranged in a single line at 508mm (.02-inch) spacing for maximum interlace flexibility.
