Thursday 18. September 2008 - Combination of Canon's iPF x100 Large Format Printers and EFI Inkjet Proofing System Awarded SWOP "Grade 3" Certifications

Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leading provider of digital imaging technology, EFI and Chromaticity, Inc., today announced that standards organization IDEAlliance has awarded SWOP “Grade 3” certifications to Canon’s imagePROGRAF iPF x100 Series large format printers when used with EFI Validation 155 and 190 Offset Proofing media and EFI Colorproof XF.

IDEAlliance SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) certification of the Canon iPF x100 Series large format printers and EFI media assures graphics, publishing, packaging and production professionals consistent and accurate color to match the appearance of certified press proofs used in print production. Chromaticity, a leader in distribution and deployment of color management and digital imaging technologies for the graphics arts market, tested and submitted the Canon EFI solution to IDEAlliance for SWOP Certification.

“Working side by side with partners like Chromaticity and EFI, Canon strives to provide quality contract proofing solutions that meet the industry’s highest standards – SWOP – for inkjet proofing systems,” said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. “We are honored and delighted that we have received this prestigious industry certification from IDEAlliance.”

According to Ian Mackenzie, vice president of marketing at Chromaticity, “The goal of the partnership between Canon U.S.A., EFI and Chromaticity is to offer dealers and customers high-quality proofing solutions that adhere to the industry’s most rigid standards. We are pleased to have received official SWOP certification from IDEAlliance. This complements Chromaticity’s existing media offerings that feature EFI Validation 250 Satin – the highly successful inkjet paper, designed from the ground up, to hit GRACoL specifications for proofing,” commented Ian.

“This SWOP certification affirms the high caliber of solutions resulting from our continued collaboration with Canon and Chromaticity,” said Stefan Spiegel, general manager, EFI Graphic Arts Solutions. “Colorproof XF turns inkjet, laser and LED printers into powerful proofing and production devices. This important certification assures graphics, publishing and production professionals that their color output represents consistent and accurate color to match the appearance of certified press proofs used in publication production.”
