Friday 12. September 2008 - HP today announced that Gemini Digital Colour Ltd's newly installed HP Indigo press 5500 has enabled the company to win new contracts and produce a range of highly branded collateral.

Gemini Digital has been using an Indigo digital press since its establishment in 1995. The company specialises in printing a range of high-quality products including business cards, stationery, leaflets, brochures, fine art prints, posters, point of sale items and trial run work for its customers. The company currently operates its new HP Indigo press 5500 alongside its existing HP Indigo 3050.

“Gemini has a reputation for investing in innovative technology, purchasing the UK’s first two commercial Indigo presses in 1995,” said Bob Whitaker, chairman and joint managing director, Gemini Digital Colour Ltd. “It was important that we purchased technology that would allow us to produce offset quality print. When looking at investing in a new press we felt that the HP Indigo press 5500 was the only press in its class that would allow us to offer our customers all of this and more.”

The company’s five-colour HP Indigo press 5500 uses special and spot colour capabilities to match 97 percent of PANTONE Colours. Since the installation of its new press the company has been able to offer its customers demanding branded work consistently matching critical corporate colours and logos.

The company has recently used its new HP Indigo press to undertake work for a print management company who deals with many of the UK’s leading estate agents. Each day Gemini produces 50 four-colour luxury brochures for premium properties, which are matt laminated, scored, folded and shrink wrapped in- house before being delivered overnight to the relevant estate agents.

The HP Indigo press 5500 increase productivity with printing speeds of 4,000 four-colour A4 images per hour; a four-drawer paper feeder to reduce time loading substrates into the press and increased automation leaving operators free to concentrate on other area of production. The new HP Indigo press allows Gemini to complete work within limited timeframes and to fulfil its customers requirements.

“This has been a particularly difficult period for the printing industry but since the installation of our new HP Indigo press 5500 we have seen an increase in productivity and have already attracted significant new customers – including leading print management companies and prestigious design agencies who require the highest-quality branded items,” said Whitaker. “We estimate that thanks to our HP Indigo presses this will be our best financial year so far.”
