Lake Image Systems to Introduce PrintScan Verification System at Graph Expo 2008

Lake Image Systems will introduce its latest camera verification system, called PrintScan, at Graph Expo 2008.

Thursday 28. August 2008 - Lake Image Systems will introduce its latest camera verification system, called PrintScan, at Graph Expo 2008.

PrintScan is a line scan based camera verification system which images the entire width of a print web, providing comprehensive print quality and data integrity verification of every printed piece at production speeds.  The Lake Image Systems PrintScan can be integrated into offset presses, digital printers, high-speed inkjet printers, narrow web label presses, and ancillary equipment such as rewinders.

The PrintScan camera images the entire web width, checking every physical page for number and character legibility, bar code quality, streaks and voids, front-to-back matching, and print alignment, while providing piece level tracking and reporting.  The Lake Image Systems PrintScan system can operate at speeds of 500 feed per minute or higher.  A camera image of each defect is archived and triggers actions such as insertion of a tab, designation with an inkjet marker, or stopping the machine.  The Lake Image Systems PrintScan provides an audit trail of all pieces produced and a separate report of the integrity errors identified during the run.

According to Lake Image Systems vice president Pat Hoskins, “PrintScan determines print quality and identifies integrity defects at the time of printing, eliminating costly rework, throughput delays, and liability risks associated with incorrectly printed pieces.  This capability is especially valuable to printers who must comply with HIPAA legislation or others responsible for protecting private information.  PrintScan ensures that the variable information printed on the front of a document correlates with that printed on the reverse, and provides an audit trail so that all printed pieces can be tracked through the entire lineage of the production run.  The Lake Image Systems PrintScan is especially useful in ensuring print quality and data integrity for transactional, transpromotional, and conventional direct mail.”
