Autodesk Revolutionizes Plastic Part Design With Technology Preview of New Inventor Plastic Features

Thursday 14. August 2008 - Technology Dramatically Increases Design Productivity by Making Complex Plastic Part Design Faster and Easier

Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK), a world leader in design innovation technologies, announced the availability of the Autodesk Inventor Plastic Features Technology Preview on Autodesk Labs. This preview version of Autodesk Inventor software — the foundation of the Autodesk solution for Digital Prototyping — showcases exciting new technology that significantly simplifies the design of plastic products by allowing designers and engineers to automatically create thin-walled plastic parts and features such as grills, rests, bosses, snaps, lips, grooves and fillets.

In combination with Autodesk industrial design products and recently acquired PlassoTech advanced product simulation technology and Moldflow injection molding simulation technology, the Inventor Plastic Features Technology Preview further strengthens the Autodesk solution for Digital Prototyping in all markets where plastic parts are required.

“Plastics are one of the fastest-growing engineering materials, and Autodesk is committed to providing customers with scalable, attainable and cost effective Digital Prototyping solutions that help take their design productivity and innovation to new heights,” said Robert “Buzz” Kross, senior vice president of Autodesk Manufacturing Solutions. “We encourage anyone involved in plastic design — not just current Inventor users — to try Inventor Plastic Features and experience the benefits for themselves.”

For a limited time the Inventor Plastic Features Technology Preview is available for free* from Autodesk Labs. Please visit the Inventor Plastic Features Technology Preview page on Autodesk Labs for important information about country availability and product functionality.
