HP renews its commitment to the graphics arts industry with new Graphic Solutions Business structure

Thursday 07. August 2008 - Following the successful drupa exhibition, HP announces the reinforcement of its graphic arts business to accelerate digital page growth, deliver best in class solutions to customers and take advantage of the global graphic arts market. The new Graphics Solutions Business (GSB) will be led worldwide by Senior Vice President Michael Hoffmann.

The Graphics Solutions Business organisation now encompasses Design, Sign & Display, Indigo digital presses, Specialty Printing Systems, Inkjet High-speed Production Solutions (IHPS), Light Production Solutions, and all related supplies. The HP Graphics Solutions portfolio is designed to deliver profitable growth for customers, backed by HP’s leadership, commitment to customer success and sense of global responsibility.

Ernest Sales – VP and General Manager, GSB EMEA

In his role, Ernest Sales will be responsible for the business management of the entire Graphics Solutions portfolio and all sales and marketing activities. A 23-year HP veteran, Sales has previously served in HP’s EMEA Technology Solutions Group where he was responsible for running value and volume businesses, most recently as Software Sales Manager.

Francois Martin – EMEA GSB Marketing Director

Francois Martin continues in the role that he has held since 2005. Francois Martin has worked within the HP printing division for more than 20 years and brings a wealth of experience to the graphics market.

Marc Schillemans – VP and General Manager, HP Indigo EMEA

Marc continues in his role and will further develop market penetration for HP’s digital solutions for commercial printing, labels and packaging, photo-specialty, publishing, newspapers, direct mail and transactional/transpromotional applications.

Wayne Davey – Sign & Display Business Director, EMEA

New to the team Wayne will have overall responsibility for the HP Sign and Display portfolio of hardware, supplies and value added services, and for developing and executing the sales strategies. Wayne has worked for HP for over nine years and was formerly responsible for the Commercial Supplies sales and marketing across Europe.

Merce Barcons, appointed as EMEA Design Business Director

Merce will be responsible for driving sales in the creative and technical markets. In the technical market, Merce Barcons will focus on building on HP’s extensive heritage in providing large format printing solutions for the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), mechanical CAD manufacturing (MCAD) and geographical information systems (GIS) industries. She will also be responsible for the professional photography, graphic design and fine art markets, building on the success of the Designjet Z-series.

These changes to the EMEA Graphics Solutions Business leadership team demonstrate HP’s commitment to further invest in the graphics market and to offer an excellent customer experience through focused digital solutions. Spanning virtually every form of printed output – from postage stamps to building wraps, HP now offers the industry’s broadest portfolio of innovative digital printing solutions that provide customers with new revenue-generating opportunities and strategies to differentiate themselves in a highly competitive market.
