Heidelberg Wins GATF InterTech Award for its Cutting-Edge Prinect Inpress Control

Winner of the prestigious GATF Award 2008 - Prinect Inpress Control, the inline color measuring and control system from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG

Tuesday 29. July 2008 - Shorter makeready times and reduced paper waste win over panel of judges

Prinect Inpress Control, the inline color measuring system from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg), was this year’s winner of the prestigious InterTech Award presented by the GATF (Graphic Arts Technical Foundation). The far faster setup times of this inline measuring system, which Heidelberg unveiled at Ipex 2006, made a particular impression on the panel of judges – a result of the machine no longer having to be stopped for sheet pulls and measurements. Both inking up and registration are quicker, too. The fact that the machine does not need to be stopped also cuts paper waste.

The inline measuring and control system is available for Speedmaster XL 75, Speedmaster XL 105, Speedmaster XL 145, and Speedmaster XL 162 presses.

The Graphic Arts Technical Foundation is the world’s leading technical association in the graphics communications industry. It is headquartered in Pittsburgh and works closely with around 13,000 member companies in North America and 500 businesses in other countries to develop cutting-edge technology for printing and publishing processes.

The PIA/GATF InterTech Technology Award has been presented annually since 1978. It is awarded to particularly innovative technologies that are of concrete benefit to the print media industry and is aimed at advancing technical progress in the industry. The innovations nominated must have been launched recently but must also be tried and tested under industrial production conditions and be expected to have a significant impact on the industry over the next five years.
