Alwan reports record sales and three new distribution agreements from first ever drupa

Visit of Alwan's booth by Chinese delegation at drupa 2008

Tuesday 15. July 2008 - Alwan Color Expertise today announced that drupa 2008, the first in the company’s history, enabled the company to realize a record sales month. Compared to June 2007, the French software innovator has generated a significant increase in direct sales, mostly attributable to on-floor sales of 35 systems.

Their flagship product CMYK Optimizer ECO, which includes the unique Dynamic Black technology, accounted for 19 show sales.
With several hundred very interested printing and publishing professionals visiting their booth, located in the Drupa Innovation Parc, Alwan conducted over 300 demonstrations. At one point, the company received a delegation of more than 40 from China, which was accommodated with a personalized demo in Chinese. This visit was organized by Workflow Integrator, Alwan’s Chinese distributor from Hong-Kong.
The show also generated new networking opportunities. As a result of the show, Alwan today announced three new international distribution agreements, including pacts with Wifac (The Netherlands), Act-IT (Denmark) and Gamut (Australia). Since the beginning of 2007, the Alwan network of sales partners has grown from 14 to more than 40 worldwide. Alwan continues to receive interest from new resellers worldwide, and the company is aggressively pursuing these opportunities.
New Wizard-Base Interface of CMYK Version 3.5 a Show Hit
At drupa, Alwan presented its full range of world leading CMYK Optimizer software, emphasizing the unique benefits and technical innovations that distinguish Alwan’s software solutions. Product demonstrations highlighted technical strengths, such as preflight features, problem-free printing of documents and advertisements, dynamic analysis and calculation of optimal total area coverage (TAC) of ink, Dynamic DeviceLink profiles building and XML reporting.
Alwan’s standardization and optimization software for color separation of PDF files has been updated to version 3.5. The new user-friendly interface feature allows non-expert users around the world to automatically define the correct color settings in order to produce ISO compliant and colorimetrical accurate PDF/X files. New optimization capabilities in its Adobe PDF embedded library generate increases of up to 10 times in software speed, depending on the file content.
“This was our first drupa experience and we were extremely active at the show,” notes Elie Khoury, president of Alwan Color Expertise. “One of our biggest attractions was our new wizard-base interface of CMYK version 3.5. With its new wizard base interface, customers set their standardization queues in a very fast and user-friendly way. We were delighted with the very positive feedback we received from both existing and potential new users. We believe the show was instrumental in enabling us to not only close product sales, but to also expand our sales reach. We expect to close several new distribution contracts in the near future.”
Success for Alwan, KEE Consultants, and Ugra‘s Partnership
“At drupa, Alwan’s booth became a meeting point for experts, service providers, and clients worldwide,” adds Elie Khoury. “In addition to new product information, we supported their interest in services and tools to implement ISO 12647 standards. Internationally, industry experts are increasingly interested in joining KEE Consultants’ network to promote ISO 12647 standards and Ugra certification. In July, we’re hosting many of them at a special session at our offices in France to help them follow Alwan, KEE and Ugra’s training and accreditation paths. The strong attention and interest demonstrate that Alwan software and supportive efforts remain as central to standardization as ever.”
Accelerating Future Development
Following up on a successful drupa, Alwan is accelerating their business plans. In order to support its growth, Alwan is actively recruiting a number of marketing, sales, technical and development resources for its French headquarters, as well as in worldwide operations.
