Mimaki Engineering, a leading manufacturer of wide format inkjet printers and cutting machines for the Sign / Graphics, Industrial markets, and Textile / Apparel, will exhibit its JV33 Series inkjet printers for the sign and graphics market. The machine delivers outstanding performance and features unique inkjet technology.
The JV33 Series employs a newly developed high-speed piezo print head enabling it to print at a resolution of up to 1440 dpi with a maximum speed of up to 17.5 sqm/h (540 x 720 dpi). It contains 180 nozzles x 8 lines allowing for highest accuracy in four- and six-colour print modes, with or without white, at 30% higher print speed compared to the JV3 Series. Even four point text looks sharp and clear. Individually adjustable print head height between 2 and 3 mm (depending on media thickness) for solvent models and 4 or 5 mm (adustment by technician is required) for use of dye sublimation transfer paper for aqueous models further ensures high image quality. This is especially important as the transfer paper absorbs water of the ink and cockles causing head jams.
The variable dot technology features three different dot sizes resulting in smooth gradients and non-grainy finish even when printing at high speed and in low resolution modes. In addition, the JV33 Series employs a symmetric ink arrangement in four-colour mode enabling improved bi-directional print quality.
Furthermore, the new JV33 Series is equipped with Mimakis UISS (Uninterrupted Ink Supply System). In four-colour mode the system utilises two cartridges per colour – thereby extending uninterrupted and unsupervised printing without operator intervention. As soon as one ink cartridge is used up, another cartridge of the same colour starts its ink supply to the system automatically. The empty cartridges can then be exchanged “on the fly”.
For several applications, such as printing on transparent or opaque media, Mimakis exclusive “White ink Overlay print” can be employed. Printing a white ink background, particularly on coloured and transparent materials, enables more brilliant colour printed images. On the JV33 series the white background is printed simultaneously with the rest of the image to maintain consistent quality and high productivity.
For quicker ink drying the JV33 Series employs a triple stage intelligent heating system. A pre-heater heats up the media before printing. During the print process the second print heater and a third post-heater enables even higher print quality and faster drying time, especially on uncoated media. An optional drying fan is available for shortening the drying process further.
The printer can be used either with Mimakis exclusive solvent ink SS21, ES3, aqueous ink (Eco-PA1) or dye sublimation ink (SB51). The SS21 solvent ink ensures quick drying, high scratch resistance and excellent compatibility with different types of media.
JV33 is available in two sizes. The JV33-160 has a maximum print width of 1610 mm and the JV33-130 a maximum of 1361 mm. The printer employs Mimakis multipoint grit roller system. Particular long prints and print runs are supported by this accurate and secure media holding system.
The JV33 Series solvent ink version can further reduce environmental concerns by installing an optional exhaust system. This system consists of exhaust fans that are attached to the front of the machine effectively removing solvent fumes. When more ventilation is needed, exhaust ducts on the back of the machine can be added. Furthermore, in order to achieve a comfortable, odour-less environment, an exhaust curtain, attached to the front of the machine, helps to reduce the fumes.
Standardised 16-bit rendering, one of the features of Mimakis new included RasterLink ProIII-software for Windows operation systems, is the generation of smooth gradients and fine colour reproduction without tone jumps. Furthermore RasterLink ProIII provides versatile editing functions, such as tiling, trimming, scaling and rotating. In addition, ganging of differing images of different sizes is made possible by the new version of RIP-software. Another decisive advantage is the new possibility for Mimakis JV33 Series of operating in hybrid environments of Windows- and Macintosh-systems.
