USA TODAY announces the formation of a dedicated, national advertising sales team for Open Air Magazine. Open Air is an active lifestyle magazine published by USA TODAY and is available four times a year in Friday issues of the newspaper (Circ: 2.5 million*). The next issue will be on newsstands Sept. 5.

“The initial response to Open Air has been tremendous. In a recent survey** most readers rated Open Air better than their current source for active lifestyle information,” said Craig Moon, president and publisher, USA TODAY. “We want to bring this audience to marketers and feel it’s hugely important to have a dynamic team of people with great cross-category experience in the field connecting with new partners on a national level.”

The team is led by Jeff Nellett, national advertising director, Open Air Magazine. Nellett has been with USA TODAY since 2001, as the director of Advertising for the Detroit office and as director of the Automotive Category. In this new role, Nellett is responsible for the magazine’s national ad sales effort and continues to be based in Detroit. Reporting to Nellett is Ted Chase, senior manager of Advertising, Open Air Magazine, who is responsible for ad sales in the Midwest and Southeast regions of the U.S. Chase joined USA TODAY in 1996 and has worked within marketing and sales for USA TODAY’s Sports Weekly. Chase is based out of McLean, Va.

Allison Hickey joins the team as the northeast sales manager, Open Air Magazine. She holds dual roles with her previous position of international manager, Canada and Pacific Rim, USA TODAY. Hickey joined USA TODAY in 1999 and she is located in New York City.

In a newly announced hire, Alexandra Valdes has joined Open Air Magazine as an account executive based in Los Angeles. Valdes is responsible for ad sales in the western region of the U.S. Valdes, a nine-year magazine veteran, was previously with Access Media representing the magazines O at Home, Continental and YRB.

Open Air Magazine focuses on the active lifestyle and all its rewards.
