As part of its commitment to open, market-leading technology, EFI has developed the EFI Fiery JDF Connector (FJC). The complimentary add-on solution works with Fiery and JDF-enabled digital solutions to bridge the communications gap between companies creative, production and print management solutions, making digital production and business processes faster and more efficient. EFI validates FJC with JDF-enabled solutions on an on-going basis, including Adobe Creative Suite, various third-party workflow solutions, and is tightly integrated with EFI Print MIS solutions. FJC is based on industry-standard Job Definition Format technology (JDF), which facilitates real-time movement of job details such as production times, media instructions, customer information, specific delivery instruction and the buyers intent particular to job production.
EFI is demonstrating JDF connectivity throughout its product line, providing integration and automation across workflows. EFI demonstrates the integration of print management and Web submission tools into production workflow solutions with EFI Digital StoreFront, EFI Hagen, EFI PrintSmith EFI Prograph, EFI Fiery and EFI Fiery Central.

EFI Hagen OA estimates and plans a job that includes stripping data and gray box info for prepress. Prinect Prepress Manager receives JDF from EFI Hagen OA and then evaluates gray boxes for page proofing, imposition preparation, imposition proofing and final imaging. Prinect Prepress Manager then creates imposition information via JDF stripping parameters, assigns content files and marks to the sheets, automatically processes proofing and plate exposure, generates preview images, then submits job status information via JMF to EFI Hagen OA. EFI Hagen OA then sends JDF to Prinect Pressroom Manager which evaluates gray box info for printing and communicates job status information via JMF back to EFI Hagen OA.

EFI Prograph software will be used to create a production plan including a complete imposition and detail for prepress, press, bindery and distribution. Prinergy with Business Link will be shown collecting and pre-flighting content pages and notifying Prograph when they are available. Once all content has been received and refined, Prograph will export a populated layout to Prinergy, including content links and marks. Prinergy then processes the JDF automatically which results in the output of proofs and plates with minimal user interaction.
