Friday 23. May 2008 - By royal command

The KBA Commander 85 newspaper press now operating at NWN Media’s new print production facility on the Deeside Industrial Estate in Flintshire has received a royal audience thanks to a high-profile visit by HRH, The Prince of Wales.

The Prince pressed the button for the official start-up of the high-specification 85,000cph press line which incorporates four reelstands and four 8-couple printing towers and automatic reel loading and roller setting. He toured the new £15 million ($29.3m) facility in the company of NWN Media chairman Russell Whitehair and managing director David Faulkner.
On his arrival the Prince was photographed and thanks to some speedy work in pre-press and pressroom was handed, on departure, a copy of a special 16pp commemorative supplement containing the pictures of his visit.
The Prince told his audience: “It is an enormous pleasure to see the work carried out by local and regional newspapers of this kind. I was only too pleased to be able to accept the invitation to open your new press hall.”
