MGI DIGITAL GRAPHIC TECHNOLOGY UNVEILS THREE MAJOR INNOVATIVE PRODUCT LINES, DIGITAL AND INKJET PRESSES AT DRUPA 2008
Tuesday 13. May 2008 - MGI Digital Graphic Technology, the multi-substrate (paper and plastic) digital press and finishing solutions manufacturer, announced that it will launch several innovative new products for digital and offset applications at Drupa 2008 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The Drupa 2008 launch is one of the companys most comprehensive to date, incorporating products targeted towards a variety of industries, such as commercial printers, plastic/card printers, and photofinishing. New equipment on display will include high-speed 4-color digital presses for Paper and Plastic substrates, spot UV coating using inkjet technology, and a 4-in-1 digital press inclusind printing, laminating, creasing and cutting unit for photofinishing applications.
World Premiere Meteor DP 60 Series 4-Color Digital Presses

The Meteor DP 60 Pro multi-substrate Paper & Plastic Digital Press is the flagship model in the DP 60 series. Designed for high volume printing, the DP 60 Pro has the capability to produce up to 3,900 A4/Letter size sheets, 1,600 330mm x 487mm (equivalent to 13″ x 19″) sheets, and up to 32,000 ISO CR-80 PVC plastic cards hourly, all in four colors and with full variable data. It can accommodate sizes up to 330mm x 487mm (13″ x 19″) with a maximum print area of 320mm x 480mm (12.6″ x 18.9″).
The most versatile digital press in the industry, the Meteor DP 60 Pro can print on a wide range of Paper and Plastic Substrates. For papers from 70 to 350 Gsm (up to 110lb cover, 174lb index) including matte and glossy papers, CS1 & CS2, textured papers, envelopes, labels/stickers; for Plastics from 100 to 400 µ thickness (up to 16 mil) such as PVC, polycarbonate, polyester, Teslin, vinyl, PET, and many others. All substrates can be printed in high quality resolutions of up to 2,400dpi x 200lpi with variable line screen capabilities.
Other unique features of the Meteor DP 60 Pro include:
· Vibration Reduction System (VRS)
· Climate Control System – utilizes an infrared module to pre-treat substrate surfaces, which regulates temperature and humidity prior to printing
· High capacity pneumatic loader – accomodates up to 3,000 330mm x 487mm sheets (or 13″ x 19″), paper or plastic
· Optional high pile output stacker with a capacity of up to 6,000 sheets
· Adjustable offset feeder table, ensuring precise registration
Designed exclusively for Paper Substrates and specific synthetics such as Teslin, the Meteor DP 60 Paper has a duty cycle of up to 600,000 pages per month, with a total input capacity of 8,300 sheets and over 2 hours of continuous feed time. It can accommodate up to 300 Gsm (110lb cover, 174lb index), envelopes, and many other paper formats.
The DP 60 series has full variable data capabilities and is compatible with most standard software applications as well as PPML and VPS formats. Applications include auto-numbering, bar codes, alphanumeric databases, direct mail, photo/identification cards, and a wide range of others.

The perfect complement to offset printed substrates, MGIs revolutionary new off-line inkjet spot UV coater is designed to ensure precise coverage. The JetVarnish aims high-speed and up to ISO B3+ format applications, with an integrated infrared dryer to enable turn-key operation. Attendees at Drupa 2008 will receive an exclusive preview of this groundbreaking finishing device, which joins MGIs popular UVarnish offline flood UV coater, introduced in late 2006.
Meteor DP20 One Hour Photo Book Solution

Ideally suited for photo book production, the Meteor DP20 is an 4-in-1 printing, laminating, creasing and cutting unit. Photos can be printed in resolutions up to 1,800dpi, on sheet sizes up to 270mm x 431.8mm (or 11″x 17″) with an output of 20 pages/minute. The in-line unit allows seamless production and turnaround of photo products in as little as one hour.
