Printos has been granted an award for Innovation at Fespa Digital Printing Europe 2008

Monday 12. May 2008 - Printos is a manufacturer/distributor of a new range of DOD, digital, solenoid, valve jet printing/coating heads and micro valves which are designed to coat/print/dye most substrates using a wide range of fluids .

The company is part of Videojet Technologies, a world leading manufacturer of coding, printing and laser marking products, fluids, and accessories for the product identification industry.
At the Fespa Digital Printing Europe 2008 exhibition Printos has been included on the FESPA Digital Blue (Innovation) Trail which indicates those companies whose products or services are particularly innovative.

The award has been granted for the product Printos P16, a digital print head capable of printing dots to a fine enough resolution to allow ‘process colour printing’ (mixing colors) onto medium and high pile textiles. The challenge is, that in order to penetrate the ink to the bottom of a pile material ‘high’ volumes of ink (2-150 nanoliters )are required. Typically, high volume drops of ink mean low resolution, but the Printos P16 technology is able to print onto materials up to 10mm deep, with full penetration, whilst maintaining resolutions of up to 100 dpi.
The patented microvalve technology is now being integrated into large scale printing machines and, due to the use of specifically chosen materials inside the print head, the technology can be used with a wide range of fluids, such as acid based, reactive and dye sublimation inks as well as solvent- and UV based inks. This means that the system works on almost all typical substrates in the textile industry.
The technology allows us to use less than 10% (approx 400 cc as opposed to 4 liters)of the ink per square meter compared to other digital systems for carpet printing available on the market today; with minimal use of thickeners there is a vastly reduced washing requirement resulting in water savings and much cleaner and lower quantity waste products.
Typical applications are carpets, rugs, logo mats, curtains, upholstery, terry towels, automotive mats, wallpaper, etc.
