Small Newspaper Group To License Full Suite of DTI Solutions

Thursday 08. May 2008 - New Solutions will Lead to Better Customer Service and Profitability

The Small Newspaper Group has reached an agreement with Digital Technology International, a leading developer of solutions driving the future of the news media industry, to provide DTI’s financial, advertising, editorial and Web publishing solutions to its properties. This is in addition to the DTI Circulation system already in use.

The Small Newspaper Group is a privately owned company with five newspapers and multiple online properties in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and California.
“SNG identified a number of strategic imperatives for our selection process including knowing more about our customers, leveraging that information to maximize our sales and service capabilities, acquiring technology to reduce costs and improve customer service,” said Gerald Taylor, Publisher of the Moline Dispatch Publishing Co. and head of the SNG technology task force. “We considered a number of best-of-breed solutions and ultimately selected DTI because we believe it best fits our current and future business needs.”

Key to those efforts is DTI’s integrated solution that allows a single view of the customer, whether handling circulation or advertising customer service.

“Like many newspaper companies SNG has operated on different systems for a number of years. DTI’s landscape of products will give SNG a suite of solutions to power their newsroom and operations,” said Dan Paulus, DTI VP of Sales and Marketing. “This opens the door to new possibilities they didn’t have.”

SNG’s strategic initiatives make consolidating information from many sources imperative. The DTI financial solution will provide SNG the platform to better manage enterprise-wide business opportunities and information which is necessary in today’s constantly changing media world.

This evolution is most evident in the newsroom. DTI’s NewsSpeed and WebSpeed solutions will provide SNG with the foundation to publish content from a single source to many different platforms, maximizing efficiency in this world of the 24 hour news cycle. Staff can focus on the news and not the process of publishing the news.
The SNG/DTI project begins immediately and has the potential to incorporate over 300 seats of DTI solutions.
