Interactive online service under www.gerresheimer.com: The most convenient method for product research

Through new structures the Tubular Glass Division of Gerresheimer has substantially expanded its radius of activity. For the first time, the globally organised business division which serves the worldwide pharma & life science industry with high-quality intermediate and finished products now offers a complete overview of its expanded range of glass tubes, syringes, cartridges, vials and ampoules. “A traditional catalogue could not adequately portray this giant product spectrum,” says Burkhard Lingen¬berg, Direc¬tor of Marketing and Communication for the Gerresheimer Group: “In a tailor-made online catalogue we have therefore combined product information with very convenient interactive tools for research and direct questions.”

Under www.gerresheimer.com a new type of Internet database brings the convenience of this medium to product research. Clearly and comprehensibly structured it not only classifies the various ranges in various levels of detail but also takes the visitor more effectively than ever to the target of his information requirements. The main role is played by an ingenious selection and presentation concept. As a result, despite all the tables, the virtual shop window is very lively. It immediately shows, for example, which product is covered by the key word: advance views accompany the visitor consistently. For everything which might interest him he can, by simply touching it with the mouse cursor, obtain a display of initial information and immediately let it disappear again so that he can promptly continue his expedition through the world of glass.

If for example the cursor passes over the product group list, photos of the products already appear in alternation. Through a click on a group, a window opens which, in addition to cross-section drawings and supplementary information, provides a list of all the available formats in table form. The fact that this table also functions accord¬ing to the immediate-view principle is particularly helpful: for each product variant touched by the mouse cursor the relevant technical data are immediately flashed up – a highly informative and time-saving procedure. Selection of a variant by a click produces a photo, drawing and product data on one page, which can be printed out or downloaded as a PDF file.

In this way, users receive a wealth of product details about standardised glass tubes, syringe systems and cartridges. With the almost unlimited variety of vials and ampoules offered by Gerresheimer, however, another user-friendly tool is particularly useful: namely an info button which leads directly to a ready-made e-mail form. All that the user needs to do is to input in the relevant fields what criteria the desired product has to fulfil, and then send off the e-mail, which will be answered quickly and precisely to the point. “This inquiry system is the simplest imaginable solution where customers would otherwise be confronted by an unintelligible flood of data,” says Lingenberg. “In addition, of course, it is open for indi¬vidual product inquiries.”

The smart service package can be reached directly on the Gerresheimer home¬page through the main portal ‘Products & Services’. In parallel, a convenient product search machine also offers its services here. Whether the visitor wants to look at an individual packaging solution or for example all the conceivable possibilities which can be considered for a particular filling quantity, the system filters out the desired contents and delivers them to the monitor: as a table which in turn is equipped with the convenience of lightning-fast comprehensive advance information.

At Interpack 2008 (Hall 7, Stand A01) Gerresheimer provides infor¬mation about the innovative package for customer communication. A basic information module is available for visitors to take away: a CD-ROM comprises the current Tubular Glass range as well as an overview of the Group’s other pharma assortments.
