Oxford University Library Services Chooses MetaLib by Ex Libris
Monday 05. May 2008 - MetaLib will play a critical part in the Universitys e-resource strategy
Ex Libris Group today announced that just six short months after going live with the companys SFX OpenURL link resolver, Oxford University Library Services (OULS) has chosen the MetaLib gateway and metasearch solution, also from Ex Libris. The combined functionality of these two products will serve as a critical part of the infrastructure for the Universitys e-resource strategy.
MetaLib provides a consolidated search environment for accessing remote information resources, helping users find the information they need quickly and effectively. MetaLib streamlines the process of obtaining materials by presenting users with content from multiple information providers in one clear, familiar user interface.
“After conducting a very thorough assessment and evaluation process, we feel that MetaLib is the metasearch solution to truly meet our current and evolving library needs,” comments Alice Keller, head of Collection Management at the OULS. “We were extremely impressed with the open architecture of MetaLib, which will allow us to easily integrate this solution with other university systems and develop new functionalities required for our specific needs. The fact that Ex Libris could offer us a fully hosted solution made our choice even easier,” summarises Alice Keller.
