Océ VarioPrint 1105: “Five Star Exceptional” rating

Océ, an international leader in digital document management and printing for professionals, today announced that the Océ VarioPrint 1105 – a high speed black & white production printing system – has received a “Five Star Exceptional” rating from BERTL, the leading independent source of product evaluation reports and analyses.
According to BERTL the Océ VarioPrint 1105 is “a very aggressive and attractive additional offering in the 100+ ppm back-office category”, with “an impressive scope of online document production capabilities”.
Outstanding set of business-critical features and functions
BERTLs “Five Star Exceptional” rating is reserved exclusively for devices that deliver an outstanding set of business-critical features and functions. In addition, they must be innovative, easy to use, well designed and represent exceptional value for money for their target user base.
As well as its online document production capabilities, BERTL highlighted a number of aspects of the Océ VarioPrint 1105 in its report. For example the user interface, both at the users desktop PC and at the device itself, was said to be “well laid out, allowing operators to achieve complex document production tasks with the minimum of fuss”. Added to that, the generic Océ print driver utility was found to offer a flexible range of device and application production tools.
Image quality at high level
Image quality of the Océ VarioPrint 1105 was said to be good across the board, thanks to the High Definition polymerized toner. Particularly praised were the “good fine line detailing, good reproduction of halftones, grayscales and shaded areas, and crisp, well defined details and text down to small point sizes”. Quality was rated at “a high level throughout in both copy and print modes”. The accurate front-to-back registration was highlighted, as an important concern for production environments.
Flexible media handling
Another strong feature referred to in BERTLs report was paper handling, which differentiates the Océ VarioPrint 1105 from many likely competitors in the 100+ ppm category. The system meets the needs of workflow in terms of flexible media capabilities, including coated media support, heavy stock feeding from all trays and a high ledger/A3 capacity. With maximum paper input and output capabilities the Océ VarioPrint 1105 can typically run for three times as long as its closest-priced rivals before requiring operator intervention. The 7-tray/10,000-sheet input capacity was said to be unique in the market.

The Océ VarioPrint 1105 is a flexible cutsheet production printing system with a print speed of 105 ppm that provides users with multiple options in terms of paper input, output, software, applications and finishing.
