World-Renowned Futurist Alvin Toffler Headlines Rockwell Automation Manufacturing 2.0 Executive Event

Thursday 01. May 2008 - Event brings together world-class visionaries to explore the future of IT-enabled manufacturing practices

Futurist icon Alvin Toffler, who first came to worldwide prominence with the publication of the best-seller Future Shock, will head a line-up of world-class speakers at the 2008 Manufacturing 2.0 event, hosted by Rockwell Automation. Toffler will kick off the event with a keynote and Q&A session, which will be followed by speakers from some of today’s most innovative companies on the theme of “Fueling Your Innovation Engine.”

Toffler’s latest book, Revolutionary Wealth, focuses on the globalization of society and the macro trends that affect the conduct of business globally. His predictions have earned him consultancies with the Russian, Chinese and U.S. governments. Designed exclusively for an audience of senior manufacturing IT and operations professionals, Manufacturing 2.0 also features the following additional world-class presentations:

IBM Big Green Initiative Chief Technology Officer Dr. Peter Williams will discuss the going-green movement and its implications for future manufacturing;
Cisco Systems Vice President of Global Enterprise Marketing Paul McNab will address the convergence of communications technologies;
SAP Americas President and CEO Greg Tomb will speak on the effect evolution and predictive ability of software; and
Smithfield Foods CIO Mansour Zedah addresses the outlook for manufacturing-IT and its impact on the globalized food industry over the next decade.
The exclusive setting for Manufacturing 2.0 provides executives with an unparalleled opportunity to discuss the state of the industry with their peers, recognize coming changes before others do, and to chart the next wave of strategic direction for their businesses to create competitive advantage.

“We are entering a new era in information-based manufacturing that will be looked back on as significantly as the first industrial revolution,” commented Kevin Roach, vice president of Software, Rockwell Automation. “Executives need to understand the implications of trends driving today’s business climate. We believe that the adoption of IT-driven manufacturing will distinguish the winners and losers in tomorrow’s economy. The ability to ‘do more and go faster’ will be tied directly to strategies that enable value chains to couple planning, processes and operations into a single, seamless enterprise regardless of geographic location.”

Participants will have ample opportunity to exchange information and ideas, learn how peers tackle day-to-day challenges, and create a network of resources for better understanding what is on the business horizon. “Few events give a combination of senior executives from both IT and operations the opportunity to collaborate around such strategic issues that are unique to manufacturing in a global economy,” said Matthew Bauer, MESA International Chair. “Manufacturing 2.0 provides a terrific opportunity to hear multiple perspectives on industry trends and challenges, and to help build the understanding that manufacturers across many industries are all struggling with the same issues.”

Scheduled for June 2-3, 2008, at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Fla., Manufacturing 2.0 will run alongside RSTechED, an annual week-long Rockwell Automation program dedicated to educating and training Rockwell Automation customers and channel partners.
