AUTOMATIC IMAGE AND BRAILLE PRINTING INSPECTION

Monday 07. April 2008 - The affiliated companies MABEG of Germany and FAG of Switzerland are to present a new model range of their automatic inspection lines on a joint stand at drupa 2008.

The MSP, MBP and MWP models are the mechanical basis of a modular system for quality control and expansion of the value adding chain. Add-on equipment enables addresses, codes or numbers to be imprinted or labels attached – all inline.

Quality control:
High-resolution camera systems scan printed images to detect faults such as hackles, misregister, doubling, under-inking, over-inking, streaks, etc.
New for the MSP (max. sheet size 104 x 83 cm) is the FAG SpectraScan for inline densitometrical color control. Another world’s first to be seen at drupa is FAG BrailleScan, a braille printing inspection system that is to be demonstrated on an MBP (Modular Blanks Processor) on the MABEG / FAG stand (Hall 9/A21).
(We will be reporting on both innovations elsewhere).

All faulty blanks detected by the quality control system are flagged or diverted to a separate stacker.

Value adding packages:
Addresses, labels, codes, etc. can be added to print products by high-resolution imprinting systems. For example, marking folding boxes with invisible security elements protects brand name products from piracy.
With each of the basis models, an automatic labeling station (or several) can add self-adhesive labels, holograms, RFID tags, etc. inline.

Basis Processors:
MABEG MSP: Modular Sheet Processor for sheets
FAG MBP: Modular Blanks Processor for blanks
FAG MWP: Modular Web Processor for reel material up to 300 mm wide
