New Online Rx Pad Ordering System Offers Convenience, Security and Free Shipping for Busy Medical Practitioners

Thursday 27. March 2008 - Standard Register Offers Full Line of ScripPlus(R) Pads to Meet CMS and State Requirements on April 1 and October 1, 2008

Standard Register (NYSE:SR), the nation’s leading provider of secure prescriptions, has launched an online system for ordering its full line of tamper-resistant prescription pads. The Web site, www.securescrip.com, introduces a new level of security and ordering ease for physicians. The site also offers free shipping on all online Rx pad orders.

The site provides secure order entry online, automatic medical license validation and online proofs, in addition to giving practitioners the ability to check order status and track shipments. The prescription pads are printed on proprietary security paper in secure facilities by bonded, authorized personnel, and the finished product is locked and under 24-hour surveillance.

“The securescrip site brings together both convenience and security,” said Jay Frerichs, program director for Standard Register’s prescription program. “Standard Register has a long history of providing security to ensure prescription pads do not fall into unauthorized hands. We also employ effective internal controls, the highest security standards and tightest quality procedures to handle sensitive, customer data, such as physician’s credit card information.”

Standard Register’s Rx pads are considered the gold standard for tamper-resistance. Integrating multiple security technologies, they exceed federal and state requirements for tamper-resistance. Moreover, they have proven their effectiveness in combating fraud.

The most widely published success has been in the state of New York where Standard Register is exclusive provider of secure prescription pads. In a presentation at the National Association for Medicaid Program Integrity Conference in August, 2007, the state reported it had eliminated over $60 million in fraud losses within six months of deploying its secure prescription program

Securescrip.com was first launched in November 2007 as both an ordering and educational site. Initially, physicians could download order forms for Rx pads, laser stock and thermal rolls and place their orders by fax. Fax orders are still accepted, but with online ordering, customers will enjoy greater convenience and free shipping. The online resource center continues to be a valuable source of helpful information on prescription fraud, security technologies, regulatory requirements, and guidance on medical office security.
