Corporate Electronic Stationary Triples Cutting Station Productivity with POLAR Cutter from Heidelberg

Monday 17. March 2008 - Corporate Electronic Stationery in Troy, Mich. recently added a new POLAR 137 XT cutter from Heidelberg — and saw productivity triple over its previous cutter.

Service, value and automation factored into company President Jim McDonald’s decision to go with the POLAR. “We knew we could rely on Heidelberg service, and we also liked the fact that the POLAR held its resale better,” he said. “We liked the automation features that enhanced productivity.” The cutter is a high-speed programmable model, able to process paper, paperboard, cardboard and plastic at sizes with diagonals of up to 137 cm. With knife speeds up to 45 cycles per minute, the POLAR 137 XT features OptiKnife, with an extended operating life and greater cutting accuracy than its predecessors, while offering advanced safety features. Corporate Electronic Stationery, founded in 1996, specializes in e-commerce orders and has about 70 employees. In addition to two POLAR cutters and a Stahlfolder from Heidelberg in the bindery, CES also runs a Heidelberg Quickmaster 46 press and an old Heidelberg Windmill in the pressroom. “Over the old cutter, we think we’ve tripled our productivity, which has allowed us to reduce costs.” McDonald said. “We’re actually hoping to quadruple our productivity over the old cutting station.”
